Digital Banking Account Deletion Policy
How to delete your digital banking accounts and data
Below are detailed steps to request a deletion of your online and mobile banking accounts, as well as how to permanently delete your data from these systems.
Your Georgia’s Own Credit Union Online Banking Service will remain in effect until terminated by you or us as permitted under the Agreement and the law. You may cancel your Georgia’s Own Credit Union Online Banking Service at any time by:
- Emailing us at memberservices@georgiasown.org
- Calling us at 800.533.2062 (404.874.1166)
- Writing us at P.O. Box 105205, ATTN: Member Services, Atlanta, GA 30348
This cancellation applies only to your online and mobile banking services and does not terminate your other relationships with us. We may terminate your participation in the Georgia’s Own Credit Union Online Banking Service for any reason at any time. We will try to notify you in advance, but we are not obligated to do so.
Upon execution of this request, Georgia’s Own Credit Union will delete data held in our mobile banking app and online banking systems. This data will no longer be accessible or available to you or any other party. This includes:
- Personal information such as your name, email address, and phone number
- All records of your financial transactions within online banking system and mobile application
- Any data related to your interactions and usage of online banking system and mobile application
Deleting your digital banking profile does not affect your share or loan accounts. The Credit Union will retain all share and loan account data in accordance with our record retention policy and applicable law.
If you choose to close your Georgia’s Own online banking account and mobile banking app:
- You will no longer be able to log into online banking or the Georgia’s Own mobile app.
- You will not be able to see electronic copies of past account statements. If you have opted to receive electronic statements and/or tax documents, your preferences will be changed to receive paper statements and paper tax documents.
- After deletion, you will no longer be able to access your digital banking account or recover any previously stored information. Any activity you previously set up within online banking or our mobile app will be canceled, disabled, and/or deleted. This includes real-time account alerts, bill pay payments and payee info, external transfers to other people or accounts, internal transfers to other Georgia’s Own members, scheduled or recurring transfers, as well as any history for any of these services. You should cancel recurring or scheduled transfers and bill pay transactions before making your request.
- Your financial accounts and loans with Georgia’s Own Credit Union will remain open and unaffected. This process only deletes your online and mobile banking account.
- Once your digital banking account is deleted, all associated data including (but not limited to) your profile information, settings, preferences, and any other content linked to your digital banking profile will be deleted. This action cannot be undone.
