Upcoming Changes Regarding Rollovers — If you are considering a rollover in 2015 and beyond, you should be aware of some important changes from the IRS. The IRS has changed its interpretation of the one-per-12 month rule. In the past, you were allowed one IRA rollover per 12-month period for each IRA that you had. Beginning January 1, 2015, you will be limited to one IRA rollover per 12-month period, regardless of the number of IRAs that you have. The 12-month period begins on the day that you receive the distribution. You are still allowed an unlimited number of transfers.
We have a number of ways to help you save for the long term. You can choose one of our varying length Savings Certificates or Individual Retirement Accounts.
Earn More When You Save More
The more you invest, the higher the rate. With six available rate tiers and fixed rate terms from 6 months to 5 years, you can choose the right option for you. Savings certificates may be purchased for as little as $500 and have 10 days at maturity to withdraw funds without penalty. View all certificate rates by visiting our rates page.
Flexibility and Control
Earn a higher rate on your overall portfolio using the investment strategies of laddering your certificates. By evenly dividing your investment amount into 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 year certificates, with automatic renewal into 5 year certificates, you maximize your return and have a portion of your investment available for withdrawal each year.
Own Your Rate
This bump rate certificate gives you the control to bump up your rate should a higher rate become available for that term. Available terms include 22, 33 and 44 months for a one-time bump and a 55 month for a two-time bump option. You may call or come into a Georgia's Own branch and have the interest rate raised to match the new, higher rate for the remainder of the term. Have the peace of mind that if rates go up you are not 'locked in'.
Laddering and bump rate certificate options are not available on IRAs.
