Georgia's Own Credit Union has worked to be a leader in corporate
social responsibility since 1934. Beyond our efforts to fortify our
communities through event sponsorship, fundraisers and a comprehensive
scholarship program, the Credit Union is also devoted to ensuring
that we are respectful of the environment.
Because we strive to lead by example, we are implementing ongoing
efforts to Go Green. As part of this important initiative, we encourage
our 110,000 plus members to use eStatements, we use recycled paper and soy ink where feasible,
and we are offering discounted loan rates for
hybrids and alternative fuel vehicles, as well as special incentives for energy-efficient home purchases and improvements. Our monthly and quarterly statements are now being duplexed. Duplexing statements saves on paper, postage, and allows for faster delivery. Finally, our 17 Branch
Locations are official Go Green recycle drop offs, where you can shred and recycle personal documents to protect both
your identity and our planet.
• Construction of new branches, including the Alpharetta location, which is slated
to open in 2008, incorporates environmentally responsible design.
• The Credit Union uses business products that are socially and environmentally
responsible.
• We invest in the well-being of the communities we serve through grants, scholarships,
awards, fundraising and community service.
• We adopt business practices that are socially and environmentally responsible.
• Georgia's Own Credit Union advocates social and environmental responsibility with the aim
of making a positive difference to the individuals and communities around us.
• Where possible we use recycled/refurbished ATMs to avoid putting more nonbiodegradble material into landfills.
Georgia's Own Credit Union stands for the prosperity of our members, service
that is unmatched in the marketplace . . . and a healthy planet.
We invite you to join us in Going Green. It’s easier than you think.
If all Georgia's Own Credit Union members switched from paper to electronic statements, we could save
approximately 150 trees per year.
Paper or Plastic? Say ‘neither’ and instead carry your own cloth
bag.
Rather than using paper or styrofoam cups, consider bringing along your own,
reusable cup or mug.
Carpool or consider public transportation to take advantage of the Clean Air
Campaign’s Commuter Rewards.
If you are in the market for a new vehicle, consider a Hybrid. |
